Friday Writings for Randos - On the strength of all convictions and the stamina of love

{Friday Writings for Randos - A weekly post that features pieces from other writers that touch some facet of the Randonneuring experience, even if that was not the author's intent. It's stuff that's best read out loud - slowly.} This week it's:

ON THE STRENGTH OF ALL CONVICTIONS

AND THE STAMINA OF LOVE

by Jenifer Michael Hecht

Sometimes I think
we could have gone on.
All of us. Trying. Forever.

But they didn't fill
the desert with pyramids.
They just built some. Some.

They're not still out there,
building them now. Everyone,
everywhere, gets up, and goes home.

Yet we must not
Diabolize time. Right?
We must not curse the passage of time.

  1. My dad died 10 years ago today. This piece seems to fit the occasion.
